Choose an important moment in your life so far and describe it using 175-200 words. It doesn't have to be about something as drastic as the title above suggests; any important moment will do--whether it really changed your life drastically or just slightly. Also, it's not necessary to write about true events. You can always make it all up.
Here are some prompts to help you:
-What happened?
-What had happened before?
-What were you doing at the time?
-How did it change your life?
Remember to check for grammar or spelling mistakes, cohesion, coherence, vocabulary, and so on, before you hand in your composition.

Past Perfect and Extra material
I thought that this teacher's explanation would make it easier for you to understand this new verb tense. In order to study it, I asked students to do activity 2 from this handout (click here to download it). Students were also asked to read the grammar section on Past Perfect G.4.3 (page 138).

Thursday 14/01/2010
On Thursday we finished lesson 5B, we corrected the grammar activities, worked on intonation and practised speaking talking about things students:
a) had arrranged to do b) had planned to do and c) would probably do in the next 4 weeks.
I also gave them a handout to revise vocabulary (we did the first part in class and the second was set for homework. I have extra copies, ask for them tomorrow in class)
After the break we started lesson 6A Decisions and choices and covered activity 1: vocabulary make and do.Remember: we tend to use make for "food" words while we use do for "study"words and jobs connected to the house.
HOMEWORK: finish the handout and read grammar page3 G6.1 First Conditional

Unit 5B A load of old junk (12/01/2010)
-On Tuesday 12th we started the lesson by revising and learning new vocabulary and phrasal verbs. The excuse was reading the text Just get rid of it! (page 44). After reading the text and answering some questions, students got into pairs and did the communicative activities on pages 117/122
-We listened to Ian and Liz and we got to know which things they are going to give away, throw away and keep. The grammatical point of the lesson was the future and the different forms we have to express it.
-We also did some writing. Students had to write a list including
1)two things they have arranged to do
2)two things they have planned to do
3)two things they will probably do in the next four weeks
Once they finished the list they shared it with other people from the class.

-We made comments on the topic of New Year's Resolutions and we also did a dictation on the origins of the tradition. I also gave a handout on tips to make your New Year's Resolutions and students wrote their own.
-A few people had a look at their exam since they were not here on the last day of class before Christmas.
-Then we went for a coffee and Alfonso invited us.
